Spire Boxing Academy host a Curry and Combat evening
Chesterfields Arkwright Centre played host to Spire Boxing's Curry and Combat evening. For an night that was to provide some top level amateur boxing. A big night out for all of these young competitors and for some ,providing their first contest, others, now becoming familiar faces in these competitions.
With ten bouts on the menu, some proving as spicy as the food being served up to accompany the evening. An evening that started off with two boxers,Suliman Ali (Bradford) and Jacob Hill (Chesterfield) both making their first appearance in the ring for three rounds of tense action.
The eventual outcome swinging in favour of Ali despite Hills continual defiance and attempts to push forward at every opportunity.
As the evening progressed some big hearts entered the ring. The audience willing them on. Some battles about personal triumph whilst others taking on old rivals. Chesterfields Spire Boxing Academy put out some spectacular young talent ,Names that have progressed on the billing over the last few years. Connor Hinds winning his contest along with Luke Pheonix, Josh Sears,Liam Dring, Howard Keho all taking wins as well as a late entry to the evening from Kieran Conway also taking the win,and a fantastic battle from Pat Eustace to beat Assad Barlass in a a hard and spirited bout that had the crowd on its feet in support.
James Reynalds was narrowly beaten on points as was a disappointed Ivor Lee both Im sure we will see again in the future as back to months of dedicated training lie ahead before the next outings sometime in August.
